ArmInfo. According to the results of 8 months, the revenue of the Armenian trade sector reached 7.1% growth (from 11.5% decline a year earlier), reaching 2.1 trillion drams (over $ 4 billion).
According to the data of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in August alone, the proceeds of 302.7 billion drams ($ 615.7 million) were provided, with an increase of only 0.2% over the month. Such annual dynamics was provoked by the exit of the trend in retail, wholesale and car trade from recession to growth. In particular, wholesale trade in January-August grew by 12.3% (out of 7.5% decline a year earlier), amounting to 1.3 trillion drams. At the same time, in August, the proceeds of wholesale trade dropped by 3.8% to 161.1 billion drams.
During the reporting period, retail trade also increased its volumes - by 1.8% (against a 15.2% decline a year earlier) to 894.5 billion drams. And in August alone, the retail sales revenue increased by 4.9% to 130.6 billion drams. In the structure of retail trade in January-August 2021, the largest turnover is provided by stores (including supermarkets) - 77.5% or 693.4 billion drams (with an annual decline of 1.8%), other retail facilities - 14.6% or 130.5 billion drams (with an annual growth of 15.6%), followed by consumer goods markets - 5% or 45.2 billion (with an annual growth of 31.9%), kiosks - 1.7% or 14.9 billion drams (with an annual decline of 14%) and agricultural markets - 1.2% or 10.4 billion drams (with an annual growth of 27.6%). The volume of purchase / sale of cars in January-August 2021 grew by 0.4% (against a decline of 18.2% a year earlier), amounting to 64.4 billion drams. In August alone, the volume of purchase / sale of cars increased by 9.6%, exceeding 11 billion drams.
Wholesale trade dominates in the structure of the total trade turnover of Armenia in terms of volumes - 53.8%, followed by retail trade - 43.1%, and the remaining 3.1% falls on the purchase / sale of cars. The average calculated AMD exchange rate was 491.73 AMD / $ 1 in August 2021, and 514.38 AMD / $ 1 in January-August 2021.
