Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan held a video call with the Director of the International Monetary Fund's Middle East and Central Asia Department Jihad Azour within the framework of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB). Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia Martin Galstyan and Minister of Finance Tigran Khachatryan also took part in the video meeting from the Armenian side.
As reported by the Deputy Prime Minister's Office, speaking about the challenges that Armenia will face in 2020, Mher Grigoryan stressed that, nevertheless, the country maintains macroeconomic and financial stability, including through cooperation with the IMF. The Deputy Prime Minister presented the main directions of the government program to Jihad Azour, stressing that the measures implemented in accordance with the Economic and Financial Policy Memorandum approved with the IMF are always in the focus of the government.
Jihad Azour noted that The IMF stands ready to assist the Government in implementing the ambitious reform agenda outlined.
The interlocutors also touched upon the reforms to be carried out in the field of education, touched upon the need to develop the capital market in terms of attracting investments and intensifying the vaccination process.
