EEC intends to reach 93.6% in terms of food security by 2022

ArmInfo. For the main types of agricultural products and food, at the end of 2020, the level of self-sufficiency of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union  (EAEU) was 92%. As Assistant to the chairman of the Eurasian Economic  Commission (EEC) Iya Malkina said during a briefing on October 20, it  is planned to reach 93.6% by 2022.

She noted that for such goods as lamb, pork, vegetable oil, grain,  sugar, the Union states are fully provided by their own production.

At the same time, Malkina pointed out that the population's demand  for fruits and berries is not covered, the level of self-sufficiency  for which is close to 50%.
