Kerobyan on economic agenda prospects with Russia: Logistics parks  and copper smelting cluster are envisaged

ArmInfo. Armenia and Russia are discussing a project to create a copper smelting cluster in Armenia, Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said on November 4 at a  joint meeting of the standing parliamentary committees to discuss the  draft state budget for 2022 in parliament.

According to the minister, the project is being discussed within the  framework of the Armenian-Russian economic agenda, which includes a  number of large investment programs. In particular, the project to  create a copper smelting cluster is estimated in the range from $ 500  million to $ 3 billion. The cost of the project, as explained by the  head of the Ministry of Economy, varies depending on whether the  cluster will include the construction of a new nuclear power plant,  or other functions besides the copper foundry.  In addition, touching  upon , logistics capabilities, which in his words are in poor  conditions, Vahan Kerobyan said that with the support of the  Association of Free Economic Zones of Russia, Armenia will build  three logistics parks for storage and transshipment of goods between  the Eurasian Union and Iran.  One of these parks will be created in  Gyumri (for goods from Europe and the EAEU). The other two will be  built in Ararat and in the south of the country (for Iranian   companies).
