
ArmInfo. In the consumer market of Armenia in January-October 2021, 4.2%, inflation was recorded, against deflationary 1% in the same period of 2020. This was provoked by an increase in the price of food products (including alcohol and cigarettes) by 5.7% (against a decrease in prices by 3.4% a year earlier), non-food products - by 6.6% (against a rise in prices by 0.4% a year earlier), and increase in tariffs for services by 1.2% (as in the previous year). This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.
On a y-o-y terms (compared to January-October 2020), the consumer market recorded inflation of 6.9% (against inflationary 0.9% a year ago), which was facilitated by the rise in prices for food and non-food products by 10.4% and 8.6%, respectively (against 0.7% and 0.8% a year earlier), and an increase in tariffs for services by 1.9% (against 1.3% a year earlier). In January-October 2021, the average monthly increase in prices on the consumer market amounted to 0.4%, against a 0.1% decline a year earlier.
In October 2021 to October 2020, consumer prices increased by 9.1% (against 1.3% a year earlier) due to an increase in the price of food products by 15.3% (against 1.5% a year earlier) and non-food products by 9.7% ( against 0.6% a year earlier), with an increase in tariffs for services by 1.6% (against 1.4% a year earlier). In October 2021 alone, inflation was recorded at 0.7% (against 0.5% a year earlier) due to an increase in the price of food products by 1.3% (against 0.8% a year earlier) and non-food products by 0.6% (against 0.7% a year earlier), while the tariffs for services remain unchanged (as in the previous year). Consumer prices in Yerevan increased by 0.7% in October 2021, against 0.4% in the previous year.
In October 2021 compared to October 2020, fruits fell in price by 0.4%, and in October alone they rose in price by 2.4%. And on y-o-y terms vegetable prices increased 69.3%, while in October they rose by 5.2%. In total, prices for fruits and vegetables increased by 4% in October, and the share of this group of products in the consumer basket by 8.35% increased the level of consumer prices by 0.3%.
Fish and seafood prices on a y-o-y terms increased by 31.9%, and in October alone- by 3.3%. Moreover, trout on a y-o-y terms has risen in price basis by 36.5%, and in October - by 3.7%.
Vegetable and animal oils on a y-o-y terms rose in price by 23.6%, with a decrease in price in October by 0.2%. Moreover, sunflower oil increased in price a-on a y-o-y terms by 42.4%, while falling in price in October by 1.3%. Prices for sugar and granulated sugar in October 2021 increased by 20.3% compared to October 2020, and in October alone increased by 0.8%.
Dairy products, cheese and eggs have risen in price on a y-o-y terms by 11.7%, and in October alone - by 2.6%. In particular, the cost of eggs increased on a y-o-y terms by 28.2% (against an October rise in price by 4.8%), and cheese rose in price on a y-o-y terms by 8.8% (against an October rise in price by 2.5%).
Bakery products and cereals rose in price by 10.4% on a y-o-y terms, and in October alone - by 1%. Moreover, prices for bread, cereals and flour increased on ay-o-y terms by 11%, 17.3% and 7.2%, respectively, and in October alone - by 1%, 1.2% and 1.5% respectively.
Meat products increased in price by 7.6% on a y-o-y terms, and in October alone they fell by 0.3%. Moreover, pork on a y-o-y terms rose in price by 34.3%, and in October alone fell by 2.5%.
Alcohol and cigarettes rose in price on a y-o-y terms by 9.7%, with a rise in price in October by 0.5%, and in 10 months alone their cost increased by 9%. The cost of soft drinks, coffee, tea and cocoa increased over the reporting month by 1.1-1.5% alone.
Gasoline and diesel fuel in October rose in price by 1.2%, on a y-o-y terms by 44.1% and 43.2%, respectively. And for 10 months of this year, gasoline and diesel fuel rose in price by 37.8% and 44.3% respectively. Clothing and footwear rose in price on a y-o-y terms by 11.7%, and in October alone- by 2.8% (clothing - by 2.3%, footwear - by 3.6%), and over 10 months - by 8%.
In terms of tariffs for services, growth in October 2021 was recorded in the field of culture and recreation - by 1.7%, transport - by 0.2% and, hotel and restaurant business - by 0.1%, in parallel with which by 0.3% prices for healthcare services fell, while in education and communications, tariffs for services remained unchanged in the reporting month. And in October 2021 by October 2020, the most significant increase in the price of services was observed in the transport sector - by 8.4%, culture and recreation - by 7.4%, healthcare - by 4.7%, hotel and restaurant business - by 3.4%, and in the sectors of education and communication services increased by 0.8-1.4%. For 10 months of 2021, the highest rise in prices for services was observed in the sectors of culture and recreation - by 7.4%, transport - by 4.7%, hotel and restaurant business - by 4.1%, healthcare - by 3.2%, and in the sectors education and communication services increased by 0.7-1.4%.
In October 2021, a 0.7% rise in consumer prices was accompanied by a 1.8% revaluation of the dram against the dollar, and in January-October against the background of inflation of 4.2%, there was a revaluation of the dram against the dollar by 7.6% (against deflation of 1%). and the devaluation of the dram by 2.8% a year earlier).
