Armenia`s minister of economy hopes for more funds for agricultural  sector

About AMD 23.638bln of the AMD 41.009bln budgeted for 2022 (a 26.9% increase as compared with the 2021 adjusted budget) will be used to cover  agricultural expenses, RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan stated  at preliminary hearing of the 2022 draft budget by the standing  parliamentary committees. The discussions may result in an increase  in the total amount, he said.  

Thus, a 34.9% increase in allocations for agricultural programs is  expected next year as compared with this year. The funds will be  allocated to intensive gardening programs, wine-making and  cattle-raising development, participation in sectoral exhibitions,  creation of a grapevine planting stock list.  Specifically, a total  of AMD 12,828.7mln is expected to be allocated to the agricultural  stimulation program, which is aimed at increasing agricultural  produce and processed food. About 67,000 economic entities will be  subsidized under the program.  

A total of AMD 2.692bln is budgeted for a veterinary services  program, with a total of 4,593.5mln budgeted for agricultural  modernization and 2,289.6mln for infrastructure restoration and  development.  Also, a total of 1,019.4mln is budgeted for a rural  infrastructure support program.  A total of AMD 144.3mln is budgeted  for a plant growing and protection program, which is aimed at  improving the quality of agricultural produce. Under the program, a  total of 220 000 hectares will be checked, with agrochemical maps to  be provided for 25 settlements, with relevant laboratory research.   According to Kerobyan, in 2022 the state subsidizing of the risk  insurance program in the agricultural sector will be continued - 325  million drams will be allocated. As noted in the draft budget, in  2021 the list of crops eligible for insurance for the agricultural  year and regions covered by the program was expanded to include  potatoes, plums, watermelons / melons. As of March 31, 2021,  insurance companies signed 2,581 insurance contracts, the insurance  premium amounted to about AMD 439.3 million, of which the subsidized  amount was about AMD 256.6 million. As a result of the contracts  concluded, the insured area of the sown gardens amounted to 3,952  hectares. The process of concluding agricultural insurance contracts  continues. 2021 The relevant budgeted amount is AMD 500mln . 

According to the 2020-2030 government strategy, the gross  agricultural output is expected to reach AMD 1,430bln. "We have  harmonized our actions and programs to achieve the targets," the  minister said.
