ArmInfo. The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January-September 2021 accelerated the y-o-yl growth from 4.9% to 10.4%, amounting to 12,009.3 thousand tons. Of these, 8,291.9 thousand tons (69% of the total) fell on road transport, with an acceleration in annual growth from 5.2% to 17.5% (against an increase of 5.2%). This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.
According to statistics, rail freight traffic for the reporting period decreased by 7.9% - to 2,277.5 thousand tons, while air, on the contrary, increased by 1.7% - to 11.7 thousand tons. The main pipeline supplied 1,428.2 thousand tons of natural gas with a y-o-y growth of 7%. Passenger traffic for the reporting period increased by 38.8% (against a decline of 60.8% a year earlier), amounting to 77,963 thousand people. In particular, road transportation increased by 31.4% - up to 59510.2 thousand people, railway - by 38.3% to 323.1 thousand people, air - 2.3 times up to 1 705 thousand people. At the same time, passenger transportation by electric transport increased by 66% to 16 424.7 thousand people. As a result, in January-September 2021, cargo turnover increased by 6.6% - up to 3,630 million tonne-km, and passenger traffic increased by 65% - up to 1,174.4 million passenger-km.
