Armenia`s trade sector started to grow with revenue of $ 4.6 billion  for 9 months

ArmInfo. The trade sector of Armenia in January-September 2021 increased revenue by 6.4% per annum (against 11.4% decline a year earlier), providing a volume of 2.4  trillion drams ($ 4.6 billion). According to the Statistical  Committee of the Republic of Armenia, such dynamics is due to the  change from the recession to the growth of car trade, retail and  wholesale trade.

At the same time, in September 2021 alone, the trade turnover in  Armenia increased by 1.6%, amounting to 307.3 billion drams ($ 629.5  million).

Wholesale trade in January-September 2021 increased volumes by 11%  per annum - up to 1.3 trillion drams ($ 2.5 billion), against a  decline of 7.1% over the same period in 2020. In September 2021  alone, the wholesale trade turnover in Armenia increased by 0.8% to  162.3 billion drams.

Retail trade increased volumes in January-September 2021 by 1.4% per  annum (against a decline of 15% over the same period in 2020), with a  volume of more than 1 trillion drams ($ 2 billion). At the same time,  in September the retail trade turnover grew by 2.6% to 133.8 billion  drams.

The largest turnover in the retail trade is provided by shops  (including supermarkets) - 800.5 billion drams or 77.8% (with a y-o-y  decline of 1.9%), other retail facilities - 148.7 billion drams or  14.5% (with ac y-o-y growth of 14.9%), followed by consumer goods  markets - 50.5 billion or 4.9% (with a y-o-y growth of 26.5%), stalls  and kiosks - 16.7 billion or 1.6 % (with a y-o-y decline of 13.3%)  and agricultural markets - 11.8 billion or 1.2% (with a y-o-y growth  of 23.2%).

The volume of purchase / sale of cars in January-September 2021  increased by 2.3% (against a decline of 22.6% a year earlier),  amounting to 75.7 billion drams ($ 147.7 million). At the same time,  in September, the proceeds from the purchase / sale of cars increased  by 0.8% to 11.1 billion drams.

Wholesale trade dominates in the structure of the total trade  turnover of Armenia - 53.6%, retail trade accounts for 43.2%, and the  remaining 3.2% is the purchase / sale of cars. The average settlement  rate of the dram to the US dollar amounted to 488.12 AMD / $ 1 in  September 2021, and 511.47 AMD / $ 1 in January-September.
