"Meridian" is a planned private road through the territory of Russia, which should connect China and Europe. It will significantly reduce the time of delivery of goods between these parts of the world. The new overland route will redistribute part of the load that is currently delivered from Asia to Europe via the Suez Canal and the Northern Sea Route, as well as by aviation and via the Trans-Siberian Railway. It is included in the state comprehensive plan for the modernization and expansion of the backbone infrastructure in Russia until 2024. The design of the highway is carried out taking into account the passage of composite road trains up to 50 meters long, including unmanned ones.
The route in Russia will pass through the Orenburg, Saratov, Tambov, Lipetsk, Bryansk, Oryol and Smolensk regions. The total length of the Shanghai-Hamburg route will be almost 8.5 thousand km, the length of the Russian section - about 2 thousand km.
