ArmInfo. The Japanese government will provide grants for the implementation of 2 programs in the Armavir and Lori regions of Armenia.
Today, at the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia Masanori Fukushima and President, Co- founder at Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Development of Communities NGO Mkhitar Avetisyan signed an agreement to provide a grant to the city of Armavir in the amount of $ 82.6 thousand to improve the efficiency of waste management and stimulate recycling. In particular, 220 containers for sorting waste will be installed in the city of Armavir and nearby villages. The collected waste will be recycled and turned into useful stationery, some of which will be provided free of charge to first graders. In total, the program is expected to reach 35,000 beneficiaries.
In addition, the Ambassador of Japan signed another grant agreement for $ 68.1 thousand with President of the "National Water Cooperation" NGO Arevik Hovsepyan. According to the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, this agreement provides for the improvement of sanitary and hygienic conditions in the secondary school in the village of Mets-Parni, Lori region. As a result, 3 toilets will be repaired at the school and a wastewater treatment system will be installed. The resulting purified water will be used to irrigate gardens. The program will cover 240 beneficiaries.
Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia Vache Terteryan noted that a good tradition of long-term cooperation has developed between the Ministry and the Government of Japan within the framework of various programs. "The participation of the Japanese Embassy is felt in completely different events, social programs," he said, noting that the programs being implemented are very important. At the same time, he expressed readiness on the part of the Ministry to assist in the implementation of such initiatives.
The Japanese Ambassador, in turn, noted that these two programs will personify the depth of friendship between the two countries.
