ArmInfo.In January-October, 2021, the proceeds of Armenia`s trade sector totaled AMD 2,600bln ($5.2) - a 7% increase against a12.5% decrease last January- October.
According to the RA Statistical Committee, the cause is an upward trend in the trade in cars, whole and retail sales in general.
However, this October alone, Armenia`s trade turnover totaled AMD 298.3bln ($622.4mln) - a 3.8% decline.
This January-October, whole sale trade totaled AMD 1,400bln ($2.8bln) - an 11.8% annual growth against an 8% decline in the corresponding period of last year. In October 2021 alone, the wholesale trade showed a decline of 2%, down to AMD 160.6bln.
Retrail trade exceeded AMD 1,100bln ($2.2bln) this January-October - a 1.4% increase against a 15.7% decline in the corresponding period of last year. This October, retail trade turnover showed a 7.4% decrease, down to AMD 125.1bln.
In the retail trade structure, shops (including supermarkets) recorded the largest turnover - AMD 896.9bln or 77% (with a year-on-year decline of 2.1%), with other sales outlets recording a turnover of AMD 169bln or 14.6% (a year-on-year increase of 17.5%). Consumer markets recorded a turnover of AMD 55.6bln or 4.8% (a year-on-year increase of 25.2%), Stalls and stands, AMD 185bln or 1.6% (a year-on-year decline of 12.3%), and agricultural markets, AMD 13.3bln or 1.2% (a year-on-year increase of 20.3%).
Armenia`s car market is recovering. This January-October, the car trade increased 9.7% against a 29.1% decline last year, totaling AMD 88.1bln ($1734mln). This October alone, the car trade proceeds totaled AMD 12.6bln (a 13.6% increase).
Wholesale trade dominates Armenia`s trade turnover (53.7%), followed by retail trade (43%) and car trade (3.3%).
The average AMDUSD exchange rate was AMD 479.25$1 this October, and AMD 508.24$1 this January-October.
