ArmInfo.Armenia hopes to resolve the housing shortage by developing a strategy for social housing construction and housing provision for the population. "We have never had such a strategy before," said RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan Narek Mkrtchyan on December 27 at the final press conference.
According to the minister, work on the strategy has been underway for several months. "France is very interested in this area, and relevant discussions have already taken place with the French Development Agency (Agence Francaise de Developpement -AFD)). Amundi-ACBA Asset Management, one of the two managers of funded pension funds in Armenia, is also interested in the strategy," After the document is ready, Armenia will be able to turn with concrete proposals to international partners.
The head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development expressed the hope that the document and the steps ensuing from it would make it possible to implement a new housing construction program. "If we are able to ector," the minister said. According to him, the beneficiaries of the program can be socially disadvantaged residents of the country, persons with disabilities, young families, etc. Mkrtchyan assured that when developing a strategy, they are guided not only by the best international experience, but also studied those examples that turned out to be a failure.
The document, according to the minister, will be ready by the end of spring 2022.
