Electricity tariffs to be raised in Armenia from Feb. 1, 2022

Electricity tariffs to be raised in Armenia from Feb. 1, 2022

ArmInfo. Electricity tariffs will be raised in Armenia from February 1, 2022.

At its meeting on Wednesday the RA Public Services Regulatory  Commission approved a relevant decision. The tariffs will remain  unchanged for low-income population, 11% of households. The daytime  tariffs for them will be AMD 29.99 and nighttime tariffs, AMD 19.99.

The following tariffs will be set for electric power consumers:

- the daytime tariff for those consuming up to 200kw/h (55% of  consumers) will be AMD 46.48 per kw/h and the nighttime tariff, 36.48  (VAT included).

- for those consuming from 201 to 400 kw/h (25% of consumers) the  respective tariffs will be 48.48 and 38.48 (VAT included)

- the respective tariffs for other consumers will be AMD 53.48 and  AMD 43.48 (VAT included).

On December 20, the Commission reported that the debt burden of  energy-generating companies necessitates an electricity tariff rise.

An analysis showed that the current tariffs will widen the financial  gap up to AMD 23.8bln in 2022. The modernization of the Armenian NPP  has greatly increased the expenses on repayment and service of soft  loans received against the guarantees of Armenia`s government.
