ArmInfo.Armenia's export pattern leaves to be desired, RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan stated in an interview on Wednesday.
Ore and concentrates, rough gold, constitute 60% of Armenia's exports, primary agricultural products, 20%, low-tech products, 10%, mid-tech products, 10% and high-tech products, 1.5%.
As regards the export of high-tech services, the situation is somewhat better.
"We are planning to change the export pattern by considerably increasing the share high-tech products especially as the essential part of the government-prioritized industries are high-tech ones. The heavy industry includes machine-building, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, metallurgy. The light industries are textile, food and tanning industries. We are expecting huge exports in these industries and we'll try to improve productivity in the light industry. It is not labor force that we must sell. Rather it is branding, marketing, design and ideas by creating Armenian brands or products with a high added value," Mr Kerobyan said.
