ArmInfo. The RA Civil Aviation Committee has issued a licence to Pegasus Airline (Turkey) for Yerevan-Istanbul-Yerevan irregular commercial flights, an official report reads.
The low-cost Turkish airline earlier applied to the RA Civil Aviation Committee for a licence for Istanbul- Yerevan-Istanbul flights. From February 3 to 6, the airline plans to carry out biweekly flights, and from February 7 to 27, three flights a week.
Armenia's aviation authorities earlier licensed Flyone Armenia to carry out the flights. This October, the RA Civil Aviation Committee issued a certificate to the airline, which was established by the Armenian SIL Group in cooperation with the Moldova-based FlyOne airline. The airline received IATA 3F and ICAO FIE codes. The airline operates Airbus A320 planes, which meet all the IATA and EASA Security standards. The airline planned to start flights three times a week from January 1, 2022, but no flight has so far been carried out.
On December 6, 2021, Turkish FM Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that Ankara was considering applications by Armenian and Turkish airlines. In mid-December 2021, Ankara and Yerevan announced the appointment of special representatives for normalization of bilateral relations. Moreover, Armenia's government decided to remove the ban on Turkish goods from January 1, 2022. The ban was imposed late in December 2020.
