ArmInfo. Freight traffic in Armenia in January-November 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, increased by 16.3% - up to 15,723.2 thousand tons (against 1.9% growth a year earlier). This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.
According to statistics, 70.5% of the total volume, or 11 089.8 thousand tons falls on road freight, which is 24.3% more than a year ago. Growth was also recorded in air cargo transportation - by 2.7% to 15.1 thousand tons. And, on the contrary, rail freight traffic for the reporting period decreased by 4.1% - to 2 834.1 thousand tons.
The main pipeline supplied 1,784.2 thousand tons of natural gas, which is 9.3% more than a year ago.
Passenger traffic for the reporting period increased by 49.8% - up to 97 324.1 thousand people (against a 63.4% decline a year earlier). In particular, passenger carriage by road increased by 44.1% to 74,141.1 thousand people, railway - by 43.8% to 399.9 thousand people, air - 2.7-fold to 2179.5 thousand people. The carriage of passengers by electric transport increased by 65.9% - up to 20 603.6 thousand people.
As a result, cargo turnover in January-November increased by 8.9% per annum - up to 4535.3 million tonne-km, and passenger traffic increased by 78% - up to 1459.6 million passenger-km.
