ArmInfo.The trade sector of Armenia increased its turnover in January-November 2021 against the same period of 2020 by 7.9% (against a decline of 13.5% a year earlier), exceeding 2.9 trillion drams ($ 5.9 billion). According to the RA Statistical Committee, in November 2021 alone, the trade turnover in Armenia increased by 3.8%, amounting to 316.2 billion drams ($ 662 million).
In particular, wholesale trade in January-November showed a y-o-y growth of 13% - up to 1.6 trillion drams, against a decline of 9.4% a year earlier. On a y-o-y terms, the wholesale trade turnover increased by 5.3% - up to 173.2 billion drams.
The volume of purchase / sale of cars in January-November showed an increase of 14.9% (against a decline of 31.9% a year earlier), amounting to 103.5 billion drams. At the same time, in November alone, the volume of trade in cars increased by 22% - up to 15.3 billion drams. According to statistics, retail trade turnover in January-November amounted to 1.281 trillion drams, having increased by 1.5% (against the decline by 16.1% a year earlier). During the month, the retail trade turnover decreased by 0.1% - to 127.6 billion drams.
In the structure of retail trade, the largest turnover is provided by shops (including supermarkets) - 77.8% or 996.9 billion drams (with a y-o-y decline of 2.3%), other retail facilities - 14.7% or 188.5 billion drams (with a y-o-y growth of 20.5%), followed by consumer goods markets - 4.7% or 60.5 billion (with a y-o-y growth of 21.4%), stalls and kiosks - 1.6% or 20.3 billion (with a y-o-y decline of 11.2%) and agricultural markets - 1.2% or 14.6 billion (with a y-o-y growth of 18%).
Wholesale trade dominates in the structure of the total trade turnover of Armenia - 53.8%, with a small margin followed by retail trade - 42.8%, and the remaining 3.4% falls on the purchase / sale of cars. The average exchange rate of the dram to the US dollar was AMD 477.66 / $ 1 in November 2021, and AMD 505.46 / $ 1 in January-November 2021.
