Pashinyan: The construction of the  Yeraskh-Julfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Horadis railway is not a heavy burden  for Armenia from a financial point of view

ArmInfo. The construction of the Yeraskh-Julfa-Ordubad- Meghri-Goradis railway is not a heavy burden for Armenia from a financial point of view. Prime Minister of  Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this live.

According to preliminary estimates, the construction work will  require $200 million and $5 million in investment. At the same time,  he indicated that there is a high interest from international donors  "As a result, such a combination may be formed that will not require  funds from the state budget. Because we need to find out what SCR,  Russian Railways, or international European companies that are  interested and ready for financing think about it. This is not an  issue that can cause financial problems", the Prime Minister said.

According to him, the construction of this railway will connect  Armenia with Iran and Russia, and if the borders with Turkey are  opened, Armenia will receive a railway connection with Russia,  Europe, China, and the resulting economic consequences. "This is what  we mean when we say "peace agenda". This project can become the basis  of a peace treaty", he said. Pashinyan also noted the significant  transit income that Armenia and Azerbaijan will receive.
