ArmInfo.The metallurgical industry of Armenia grew by 18.3% in 2021 due to the progressive growth in the production of castings from non-alloyed (carbon) steel and ferromolybdenum, against the backdrop of a decrease in volumes in the line of all other metals produced in the country. According to the results of the previous 2020, the industry recorded a decline of 0.4%.
According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, during the reporting period, the production of copper concentrate decreased by 1.1% (against a decline of 6.1% in 2020), amounting to 371.4 thousand tons. The production of zinc concentrate decreased in 2021 by 17.8% (against an increase of 15.1% in 2020), amounting to 10.622 tons. The production of molybdenum concentrate decreased by 10.9% (against a 1.7- fold increase in 2020), amounting to 22,177 tons. At the same time, the production of ferromolybdenum increased by 7.9%, against a decline of 12.9% in 2020, amounting to 7.251.3 tons.
In January-December 2001, 33,480.8 tons of aluminum foil were produced in the country, which is 5.6% lower than a year ago (against an increase of 16.2% in 2020).
The production of steel pipes, hollow profiles and fittings decreased by 6.5% in 2021 (against a 1.6-fold increase in 2020), amounting to 17.399.3 tons.
Castings from unalloyed (carbon) steel were produced in 2021 in the amount of 115.148.5 tons, which is 8.4-fold higher than a year ago, instead of a decline of 7.3% a year earlier.
All metallurgical products produced in Armenia are exported mainly to Europe and the USA.
