RUSAL summed up operating results for 2021

RUSAL summed up operating results for 2021

ArmInfo.RUSAL (SEHK: 486, Moscow Exchange: RUAL), a leading global aluminium producer, announces its operating results for the fourth quarter of 2021 ("4Q21") and for the 12 months ending 31 December 2021 ("12M21"), the press service of the company  reports.

Key results

In the twelve months of 2021, the volume of aluminum production at  RUSAL plants amounted to 3,764 thousand tons, almost unchanged  (+0.2%) compared to the previous year. Sales of aluminum as a whole  decreased by 0.5% - to 3,904 thousand tons. At the same time,  aluminum sales in Russia increased by 18.8% and amounted to 865  thousand tons. If we take into account aluminum sent to RUSAL's  enterprises for the production of foil, car rims, aluminum powder and  other products, the total volume of deliveries to the Russian and CIS  market reached a record 1.2 million tons (+19.6% compared to 2020).

During the reporting year, the price of aluminum on the London Metal  Exchange (LME) reached a level higher than $3,000 per ton. This was  due to significant increases in natural gas prices and low supply of  electricity from renewable energy sources, resulting in a sharp  increase in the price of electricity in Europe.  In 2021, global  demand for primary aluminum increased by 8.8% to 69 million tons.

Foil and packaging

In 2021, RUSAL plants produced 109 thousand tons of foil and  packaging materials (+5.2%). The volume of production of Yerevan  ARMENAL for the reporting year amounted to 33.5 thousand tons of  products (- 5.6%), Sayanogorsk SAYANAL produced 39.3 thousand tons  (+6.0%), "Ural foil" - 30.4 thousand tons ( +17.2%), "Sayan foil" -  5.7 thousand tons (+14.1%).

It should be noted that RUSAL (www.rusal.ru) is the leader of the  global aluminum industry. The company was founded in 2000 by Oleg  Deripaska. In 2021, the company accounted for about 5.6% of global  aluminum production and 6.3% of alumina. RUSAL is present in 20  countries on 5 continents.

The ARMENAL plant has been part of RUSAL since 2000. It is one of the  largest industrial enterprises in Armenia and the only producer of  aluminum foil in the Caucasus and Central Asia. It was established on  the basis of the Kanaker aluminum factory, which was put into  operation in 1950.
