
ArmInfo.Armenia and Lithuania intend to intensify cooperation in the trade and economic sector.
This became known following the meeting of Deputy Minister of Economy Arshak Aslanyan with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Armenia, Mrs. Inga Stanyte-Tolockiene. According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, during the meeting the parties discussed the possibility of increasing the volume of trade between Armenia and Lithuania, organizing bilateral trade missions, business forums, as well as participating in specialized exhibitions and fairs.
Arshak Aslanyan noted the importance of the Armenian-Lithuanian cooperation within the framework of the EU's Eastern Partnership, the implementation of current joint programs, ensuring the development of the business environment and the creation and deepening of business ties through the implementation of best practices. Informing that a textile industry assistance program has been launched in Armenia this year, the Deputy Minister suggested that the Lithuanian side consider the possibility of creating joint ventures in this area.
It is reported that during the meeting, the issues of exchange of experience in various fields of agriculture (fishing, quality control of agricultural products, food safety, etc.) were discussed separately.
It should be noted that according to the RA Statistical Committee, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Lithuania in 2021 amounted to $9.7 million, which is 51.6% higher than a year ago. At the same time, exports grew by 69.9%, exceeding $5 million, while imports grew by 35.9% up to $4.7 million.
