ArmInfo. The EAEU is starting to develop an Agreement on a Unified System for the Customs Transit of Goods through the Territory of the Union Member States. Maksat Mamytkanov, Member of the Board (Minister) for Customs Cooperation of the EEC, said this during the video bridge Moscow-Minsk-Yerevan-Nursultan-Bishkek on February 22, answering a question from an ArmInfo correspondent.
"If we move systematically, then by 2025 we should complete the task that we have set before us," he stressed. In this regard, he explained that the Agreement on Navigational Seals and the Agreement on the Features of the Application of Security for the Transportation of Goods, which were adopted at the end of the past, are elements of the final agreement on the creation of the Unified Customs Transit System.
At the same time, the member of the Board emphasized that China is interested in using the transit potential of the EAEU. "We are trying to match the interests of our countries - members of the Union with the interests of the PRC in promoting their One Belt One Road initiative. If we come to the appropriate integration processes, pairing, first of all, economic interests, then we will be able to receive appropriate benefits from transit through our territory and expand our economic opportunities and the potential of the Union countries>, Mamytkanov said.
At the same time, the minister pointed to the high interest on the part of third countries, regions in the transit opportunities of the EAEU to reduce their costs, both temporary and economic. In this vein, he attached importance to increasing the attractiveness of the EAEU transit system. <Today, many processes are taking place through negotiations and appropriate coordination with the participating countries. Many issues are within their competence. We, as the Commission, being a supranational body, are trying to coordinate and bring to a common denominator the interests and capabilities of all members of the EAEU>, he concluded.
As a reminder, on December 10, 2021 at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the heads of the EAEU states decided to sign an Agreement on the use of navigation seals in the Union for tracking transportation and an Agreement on the specifics of the use of security for the transportation of goods in accordance with the customs procedure for customs transit. The latest agreement is aimed at developing guarantee mechanisms and reducing the financial burden on businesses when making transit traffic within the Union, including in the context of using modern information technologies and electronic document management.
