ArmInfo. The dominant faction of Armenia's Parliament declined a proposal for indexing pensions and allowances to inflation. The proposal was put forward by Aghvan Vardanyan of the opposition parliamentary faction Armenia, who is author of draft amendments to the Law on State Pension and the Law on Stat Allowances.
Mr Vadranyan argues that the indexation will prevent deterioration of social conditions.
Heriknaz Tigranyan, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs, stated that, under the law, indexation is "a controversial issue."
