ArmInfo. Chairperson of the Competition Protection Commission Gegham Gevorgyan on March 1 in the National Assembly refuted the information about the presence of Azerbaijani gasoline in Armenia. At the same time, Gevorgyan admitted that there are problems in the gasoline market.
He stated this in response to the questions of Artsvik Minasyan, secretary of the Hayastan opposition faction, about whether there really is gasoline of Azerbaijani origin on the gasoline and diesel fuel market in Armenia, whether companies operating on the market are directly or indirectly connected with Azerbaijani companies, whether Azerbaijani "Socar" company is present on the market.
Gevorgyan said that the rumors are about a deal that has nothing to do with SOCAR or any other Azerbaijani compamy.
"The deal was concluded with the Georgian Petrocas company, representing the GULF brand. Most of the gasoline and diesel fuel in Armenia comes from the Russian Federation, from the Islamic Republic of Iran and to a lesser extent from Romania and Bulgaria. I can say with confidence that there is no gasoline of other origin in Armenia ", he reported.
According to the head of the Commission, control is carried out at the border according to the EAEU regime as well as, control is also carried out by the Commission. At the same time, Gevorgyan admitted that there are problems in the gasoline market. One of the biggest problems, he says, is the lack of laboratory capacity to conduct tests. "However, there are already initiated cases, if I am not mistaken, including criminal ones, based on the materials presented, when the quality and quantity did not correspond to reality," the head of the Commission said, adding that processes are being carried out related to all operating economic entities.
