Inflation in Armenian consumer market in February 2022 reached 6.5%  per annum

ArmInfo. 0.1% inflation was registered in the consumer market of Armenia in February 2022, with a y-o-y inflation of 6.5%, against 0.6% inflation in February 2021 with  a y-o-y inflation of 5.3%. This is evidenced by the data of the RA  Statistical Committee.

February inflation was triggered by a rise in prices for non-food  products by 0.2% (against 1% in February 2021), and an increase in  tariffs for services by 0.1% (against the same growth in February  2021), while food prices remained unchanged (against a rise in price  by 0.8% in February 2021).

On a y-o-y terms (February 2022 to February 2021), inflationary 6.5%  is mainly due to an increase in the price of food products by 11% and  non-food - by 5.4%, with an increase in tariffs for services by 2.1%.  As a comparison, we note that in February 2021 against February 2020,  5.3% inflation was recorded due to an increase in the price of food  products by 7.9% and non-food products - by 6.7%, with an increase in  tariffs for services by 1.6 %.

In January-February 2022, consumer prices increased by 1.7% due to an  increase in the price of food products by 3.5% and non-food products  - by 0.2%, with a 0.6% increase in tariffs for services. And in  comparison with January-February 2021, inflation amounted to 6.8%  against the background of an increase in the price of food and  non-food products by 11.4% and 5.8%, respectively, with a 2.1%  increase in tariffs for services. A year earlier, in January-February  2021, inflation was 2.8% due to an increase in the price of food  products by 4.9% and non-food products - by 2.7%, with a 0.4%  increase in tariffs for services, and compared to In January-February  2020, inflationary 4.9% is due to an increase in the price of food  and non- food products by 7.3% and 6.1%, respectively, with a 1.5%  increase in tariffs for services.

In y-o-y terms, (February 2022 to February 2021) the most significant  food prices have risen for fresh cabbage prices increased for fresh  cabbage -3.8-foldbeets - by 97.3%, potatoes - by 71.4%, onions - by  32.4%, garlic - by 27.8%, carrots - by 21.7%, sugar and granulated  sugar - by 18.2%, cheese - by 17.2%, pork - by 31.8%, poultry meat -  by 6.8%, lamb - by 7.6%, beef - by 8%, butter - by 7.8%. Vodka also  rose in price in y-o-y terms - by 9.9%, coffee, tea and cocoa - by  9.3%, cigarettes - by 9.1%, mineral water - by 5.7%.

Gasoline and diesel fuel prices have risen in y-o-y terms (February  2022 to February 2021) by 31.2% and 44.6%, respectively. in y-o-y  terms, clothing rose in price by 9.7%, and shoes - by 8.8%, small  household appliances - by 8.9%.  As for tariffs for services, the  most significant rise in price in y-o-y terms was postal services -  by 59.6%, recreation services - by 19.7%, services of restaurants,  cafes (and similar establishments) - by 6.5%, services hairdressing  salons - by 6.2%. At the same time, only in hotels and in the  transport sector, services fell in price, and even then only slightly  - by 2.5% and 2.9%, respectively. At the same time, transport  insurance services rose in y-o-yl terms by 4.8% (due to the increase  in the cost of the CMPTL policy from February 7 this year - ed.  note).
