Iran, Armenia intend to expand bilateral cooperation 

ArmInfo. Iran is interested in importing small cattle from Armenia, Mr Seyyed Reza Fatemi Amin, Industry, Mining and Trade Minister of Iran, stated at his meeting  with Armenia's Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan. 

The sides discussed the prospects of bilateral agricultural  cooperation, as well as joint machine-building projects and  investment programmes, particularly the possibility of establishing  electric vehicle production. 

The ministers also discussed opportunities for increasing  Armenian-Iranian trade, establishment of clusters with Iranian  companies' participation. 

Seyyed Reza Fatemi Amin and Vahan Kerobyan also discussed the  improvement of logistic infrastructures, simplification of cargo  transportation procedures, reduction of customs duties for Iranian  trucks. Minister Kerobyan promised necessary efforts to settle the  issues. 

Mr Seyyed Reza Fatemi Amin pointed out high-level political and  cultural relations between Armenia and Iran and stressed a need for  practical steps to raise the level of economic cooperation. 

Minister Kerobyan pointed out a 25% growth in Armenian-Iranian trade  last year. 

"Our goal is to bring it to $1bln. I hope the planned meetings as  part of your visit will be effective and will strengthen our trade  ties and facilitate the implementation of large-scale projects," the  minister said.  

Attending the meeting were also Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Abbas  Badakhshan Zohouri, Iranian MPs and RA Vice-Ministers of Economy  Narek Teryan and Arshak Aslanyan. 

In 2021, Armenian-Iranian trade turnover reached $502.8mln. Exports  totaled $65.5mln, with imports totaling $437.3mln.
