ArmInfo. Armenia's industry has recorded a 2-digit growth since the beginning of this year. The RA Statistical Committee reports a 16.6% year-on-year growth this January against a 10.8% decline last January, with a 37.8% decline during one month (AMD 177.7 or $368.7mln).
The growth is due to a growth in the processing industry, with a slight decline in the mining industry.
This January, the mining industry and open-cast mining recorded a 0.9% decline (against a 3.9% decline last year), with a monthly growth of 2.1%, up to AMD 52.9bln.
This January, the processing industry recorded a 25.1% year-on-year growth (against an 18.3% decline last January), with a 55.2% decline in monthly terms - down to AMD 89.3bln.
Specifically, food production recorded a 17.9% growth, production of beverages, a 26.5% growth, cigarette production, a 1.9% growth, production of clothing, an 8.7% growth. The printing industry recorded a 70.4% growth, the pharmaceutical industry, a 34.5% growth, rubber production, a 46.4% growth, other nonmetallic products, an 82.7% growth, base metals, 32% growth, computers and electronic/optical devices, 14.9%, electronic equipment, a 36.1% growth, machinery, a 43.5% growth, furniture, a 21.1% growth, jewelry, a 2.7-fold growth.
The textile industry recorded a 16.9% decline in production, the chemical industry, a 16.6% growth, manufacture of finished products, a 19.9% growth.
In the processing industry, food products showed the largest amount, AMD 31.1bln, followed by base metals, AMD 14.7bln, beverages, AMD 13.6bln, cigarettes, AMD 7.7bln.
This January saw a 21.3% growth in the supplies of electric energy, gas, steam and conditioned air s compared with last January (against a 3.2% growth the previous year), up to AMD 33.5bln. A 26.5% year- on-year decline in energy generation and transmission was recorded, with a 6.1% growth in gas production and distribution.
This January saw an 8.2% growth in proceeds from water supply, waste processing and recycling (against a 0.5% decline the previous year), up to AMD 1.9bln, due to a 7.4% growth in collection, processing and distribution.
In 2021, Armenia's industrial sector recorded a growth and ensured and industrial output of AMD 2,385bln ($4.7bln) - a 3.3% year-on-year growth (against a 0.9% decline the previous year).
The growth in 2021 was mainly due to growth in the processing industry against a slight decline in the mining industry.
Specifically, the mining industry and open-cast mining recorded an 0.8% decline in 2021 (against an 11.6% growth in 2020), ensuring an output of AMD 587.9bln. The processing industry ensured an output of over AMD 1,400bln - a 3.4% growth against a 3.9% decline in 2020.
