Armenia`s trade sector records 11.5% growth

Armenia`s trade sector records 11.5% growth

ArmInfo.In January 2022, the turnover of Armenia's trade sector totaled AMD 230.8bln ($479mln) - an 11.5% increase against a 15.1% decrease last January. 

According to the RA Statistical Committee, the cause is an upward  trend in the trade in cars, whole and retail sales in general.   

This January, wholesale trade totaled AMD 116.9bln ($2.8bln) - a  16.3% year-on-year growth against a 12.1% decline in the  corresponding period of last year).

The trade in cars totaled AMD 9.4bln this January - an 86.9% growth  against a 50.3% decline. 

Retail trade totaled AMD 104.5bln this January - a 2.8% growth  against a 14.7% decline in the corresponding period of last year. 

In the retail trade structure, shops (including supermarkets)  recorded the largest turnover - AMD 81.8bln or 78.3% (with a  year-on-year growth of 5.1%), with other sales outlets recording a  turnover of AMD 14.9bln or 14.3% (a year-on-year decline 4.2%).  Consumer markets recorded a turnover exceeding AMD 5bln or 4.9% (a  year-on-year decline of 5.1%), Stalls and stands, AMD 1.7bln or 1.6%  (a year-on-year decline of 6.1%), and agricultural markets, AMD  924.7mln or 0.9% (a year-on-year decline 2.9%). 

Wholesale trade dominates Armenia`s trade turnover (50.6%), followed  by retail trade (45.3%) and car trade (4.1%). 

The average AMD/USD exchange rate was AMD 481.99/$1 this January.
