ArmInfo. There will be a decrease in prices for a number of imported goods in Armenia. Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan stated this in an interview with Azatutyun.
The minister conditioned his opinion by the decision of the EAEU Council to zero customs duties on certain goods. Noting that this decision will come into force soon, Kerobyan noted that the changes will affect a wide range of goods, including food, and will significantly affect the cost of the latter. "That is, prices should fall in proportion to the current customs duty, or even more," he stressed.
At the same time, the minister announced the decision of the government to distribute quotas for duty-free import of goods from the EAEU among importers, taking into account inflationary pressure. <Today, there was a vote, and I hope that this decision will have a positive impact on the import environment for several types of meat, incl. pork, beef, poultry, sugar, rice, etc.>, he said.
Kerobyan also expressed concern about inflation, noting that it is widespread. However, he stressed that the inflationary spiral has received a new round, referring to the Ukrainian-Russian conflict. "Given the fact that two large agricultural states are involved here, at least this will affect the cost of agricultural products," the minister noted.
