ArmInfo.. Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan believes that the additional funds that farmers will be forced to allocate for the purchase of fertilizers and diesel fuel will be fully compensated in the process of selling the final products they receive. This was stated by the head of the department Vahan Kerobyan on March 23 in the parliament during the government hour, referring to the sharp rise in prices for fertilizers and diesel fuel on the world market.
Kerobyan recalled that recently the government approved a program to support land users for the purchase of nitrogen, phosphorus-potassium fertilizers at affordable prices. The program will be implemented in 2022 in all regions of the Republic of Armenia. Small farmers will be given the opportunity to purchase fertilizers with a subsidy or compensation of 50% of the selling price of fertilizer sold by suppliers to beneficiaries, but not AMD 9,000 for 1 bag of fertilizer weighing more than 50 kg.
The minister pointed out that the program provides for restrictions - each beneficiary will be provided with fertilizer to cultivate no more than 3 hectares of land. Program beneficiaries will only purchase fertilizers from suppliers included in the list published by the ministry. The supplier will be responsible for the quality of the sold fertilizer. About 4.9 billion drams will be allocated from the budget for the implementation of the program in 2022. The funds will be used to purchase 27324 tons of fertilizers (25611 thousand tons of nitrogen, 933 tons of phosphorus and 780 tons of potash).
"Given the sharp growth in food in the world, it is assumed that there will be no problems with the sale of products, but there will be a significant increase in prices, and the additional financial resources that large farmers will spend on the purchase of fertilizer and diesel fuel, already at the stage of selling the goods in full and even more will be compensated and the agricultural year will be prosperous and profitable for them," the head of the Ministry of Economy said.
