
ArmInfo. In 2021, Armenia increased the export of polished diamonds by 32.2% (against 87.5% growth in 2020) - up to 573.4 thousand carats. And the customs value increased by 45.4%, amounting to $103.6 million (against 24.7% growth in 2020). This is evidenced by the data of the RA Customs Service.
According to customs data, diamonds from Armenia are exported mainly to the UAE (62.6%) and Russia (30.3%), and much smaller volumes are exported to Belgium (4.3%), the USA (1.4%), Israel ( 1.5%), Belarus (0.5%), Hong Kong (0.3%), USA (0.2%), as well as Canada, Thailand, Georgia, Germany.
According to customs data, the volume of import deliveries increased by 24.7% (against a growth of 1% in 2020), amounting to 894.8 thousand carats of rough diamonds. In value terms, import supplies increased by 33.8% per annum (against a decline of 38.4% in 2020), amounting to $123.3 million.
Mostly, rough diamonds were imported to Armenia from Hong Kong (52.8%), UAE (19.7%), India (16.3%), smaller volumes from Belgium (6.4%), Russia (1.6%) , Israel (1.2%), as well as Switzerland, Thailand, Canada, Lebanon, USA, Germany, Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone.
