Armenia increased imports of natural and liquefied gas in 2021

ArmInfo.In 2021, Armenia increased natural gas imports by 7.6% to 2,787,097.1 cubic meters. The customs value of imported natural gas increased in the same way  (by 7.6%), amounting to $459.8 million.

According to the data of the RA Customs Service, natural gas was  imported to Armenia from Russia (87.9%) and Iran (12.1%). In  particular, 2,449,230 cubic meters natural gas of (a y-o-y growth of  10.9%), were received from Russia, and the customs value of this  volume amounted to $404.1 million (a y-o-y growth of 10.9%). Natural  gas imports from Iran, decreased by 11.3% - to 337,867.1 cubic  meters, with a similar decline in customs value - to $55.7 million.

According to the source, the supply of liquefied gas in y-o-y terms  increased by 42.8% - up to 73,564.5 tons, with an increase in customs  value by 65.2% - up to $29.3 million. Liquefied gas is supplied to  Armenia from Russia (26.8%) , Iran (58.3%) and Iraq (14.7%), very  small volumes were supplied from China, the UAE and Germany.

In particular, imports of liquefied gas from Russia decreased by  29.7% to 19,777.1 tons, with an increase in customs value by 1.8% to  $10.2 million. Imports of liquefied gas from Iran increased 2.5fold  to 42,920, 3 tons, with an increase in customs value 2.7-fold to  $14.9 million. Imports of liquefied gas from Iraq increased by 65.2%  to 10,866.5 tons, with an increase in customs value by 84.3% to $4.1  million.

It should be noted that the results of 2021 will be summarized by the  Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the  Republic of Armenia for publication in September 2022. But, according  to data published by the Ministry on July 1, in 2021, within the  framework of the new indicative balance sheet, Armenia received  111,000 tons of motor gasoline, of which 79,700 tons came from the  Russian Federation.  In addition, in September 2022 Armenia received  84.6 thousand tons of diesel fuel (of which 71 thousand tons from the  Russian Federation), as well as 18 thousand tons of fuel for jet  engines.
