5,391 families left homeless by the Spitak earthquake provided with  housing

ArmInfo. Under the government housing programme, a total of 5,391 families left homeless by the Spitak earthquake back in 1988, Chairman of the RA Urban Development Committee Armen Ghulyan reported at a Cabinet meeting. 

Vice-Premier Hambardzum Matevosyan chaired the meeting attended by  the heads of the relevant government agencies, governors and heads of  communities. 

A total of 5,419 families were beneficiaries under the housing  programme, with 5,391 families provided with housing. The rest 28  families will be provided with housing under another programme. 

The meeting also discussed the distribution of not yet privatized  housing constructed under various programmes and of temporary  lodgings. The last issue is in the government programme for  2021-2026. The programmes will be implemented in 2023.
