Metallurgical industry of Armenia increased production volumes by  6.2% in 2 months

ArmInfo.Metallurgical industry of Armenia  increased production volumes by 6.2% per annum in January-February  2022 (against a 1.4% decline over the same period in 2021).

This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.  In  particular, in January-February the production of ferromolybdenum  increased by 33.2% per annum, amounting to 1460.8 tons. In February  alone, 713.5 tons of ferromolybdenum were produced, which is 4.5%  lower than in January.

The production of molybdenum concentrate for the reporting period  increased by 19.4%, amounting to 3.467 thousand tons, and in February  alone a decline of 17.9% - up to 1.563 thousand tons was recorded.

The production of zinc concentrate increased in January-February by  8.6% per annum - up to 1.848 thousand tons, of which 868 tons fell on  February with a monthly decline of 11.4%.

While in January-February a decline by 14.8% per annum - to 53.8  thousand tons was recorded in the production of copper concentrate,  and in February alone the volume decreased by 6.4% - up to 26  thousand tons. And for the production of aluminum foil - in  January-February by 7.9% per annum to 5.389 thousand tons, with a  decline in volume only in February by 4.7% - to 2.629 thousand tons.

The y-o-y decline was also recorded in the production of steel pipes  - in January-February by 25.9% per annum - up to 1740.5 tons, with an  increase in volume in February by 60.3% - up to 1071.9 tons.  

In January-February in the amount of 16175.1 tons castings from  non-alloyed (carbon) steel were produced, which is 8.4-fold higher  than the indicator of a year ago. Over the month, production volumes  increased by 36.4%, amounting to 9.334 thousand tons.  It should be  noted that in 2021, according to customs data, Armenia reduced the  volume of exports of copper ore by 15.7% - to 429.5 thousand tons  (against a decline in 2020 by 9.3%). 

However, in value terms, copper ore exports increased by 27.3% to  $769.2 million. Copper ore was exported mainly to China (39%),  Switzerland (33.8%) and Bulgaria (27.2%).  A decline was also  recorded in the export of zinc concentrate by 11% - to 11.9 thousand  tons, against an increase of 10.9% in 2020. And the customs value  increased by 25.3% - up to $16.1 million. Moreover, the entire  volume, like a year earlier, fell on Belgium.  Exports of molybdenum  concentrate decreased by 37.4% in the reporting year (against a  multiple growth in 2020), amounting to 10.2 thousand tons, with an  increase in customs value by 17.9% to $122.3 million.  Exports mainly  fell on China (81.8%), and the remaining volume was distributed in  the direction of Switzerland (8.1%), the Republic of Korea (4.9%),  Belgium (4.5%) and Russia (0.6%).
