ArmInfo.According to 2020 data, the rate of informal employment in Armenia was 32.2%, including the agriculture sector, and almost 15% without it.
As reported by the press service of the department, such data are available in the "Level of the informal economy of Armenia, its share in GDP" report, prepared within the framework of the "Support for Tax Administration in the Republic of Armenia" program, implemented by the State Revenue Committee with the support of the French Development Agency (AFD) and the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development.
During today's presentation of the report, it was noted that formal employment in Armenia, including the agricultural sector, is 66.8%, which, according to SRC specialists, indicates a gradual increase in this indicator. According to French experts, from 2008 to 2020, the level of the informal economy in Armenia decreased from 52.9% to 32.2%. However, this indicator on the contrary, increased in the field of agriculture, forestry and fisheries, from 88.0% to 95.2%. But excluding these areas, informal employment has decreased over these years from 25.1% to 15.0%.
The program, aimed at 2020-2024, provides for assistance to the SRC in strengthening the methods of tax administration and increasing their efficiency. Assessment and analysis of the specifics of the informal economy in Armenia is the first component of this program.
As French Ambassador to Armenia Anne Louyot said at the presentation of the report, her country is ready to continue to provide all possible support to economic reforms in Armenia and strengthen the Armenian-French trade and economic ties.
