
ArmInfo.Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan and Ambassador of Slovakia to Armenia Miroslav Hacek, signed an agreement on economic cooperation between the governments of the Republic of Armenia and the governments of the Slovak Republic.
According to the press service of the RA Ministry of Economy, the agreement provides for the development and diversification of mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. This will provide an opportunity to develop and deepen long-term economic relations between the two countries on the basis of equality, mutual benefit, in such areas as industry, tourism, energy, agriculture, small and medium-sized businesses, transport and infrastructure, environmental protection, information technology and communications, and etc. The document also provides for the creation of an intergovernmental commission.
During the meeting, Vahan Kerobyan noted that Armenia highly appreciates the development of relations with friendly Slovakia, stressing that it is time to take steps to put the existing potential into practice in bilateral relations.
The head of the Ministry of Economics spoke about the current priorities of the Armenian economy. Then the parties discussed the areas in which the development of effective bilateral cooperation is possible. Such as metallurgy, mechanical engineering, microelectronics, in the field of chemistry, rubber production, jewelry, textile industry, pharmaceuticals.
Ambassador Miroslav Hacek suggested considering EU member state Slovakia as a European hub through which Armenia can strengthen its economic ties with other European countries. He noted that Slovakia considers Armenia as a country with great development potential, with highly qualified human resources, emphasizing the unprecedented rapid development of Armenia in the field of information technology.
As an area of cooperation, the Ambassador singled out the sector of agriculture, which may be of particular interest to Slovak entrepreneurs. In this context, Miroslav Hacek informed that the visit of the Slovak Foreign Minister to Armenia, accompanied by a group of businessmen to establish possible cooperation, is planned in the near future.
According to the diplomat, Armenia's good economic relations with Iran make our country even more attractive for Slovakia.
