
ArmInfo.. On April 21, the Ministry of Economy presented a 5- year strategic plan for the development of the Armenian textile industry, which was developed on the basis of an audit of factories, individual consultations, as well as insights provided by industry experts.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, the main speaker during the presentation of the strategy was Tigran Jrbashyan, economist, Head of Management Advisory Services at Ameria Group of Companies. As the economis assured, in the near future Armenia could compete with other knitwear producing countries. . The productivity of this sector is planned to increase by 2.7%>, he noted.
According to the source, as part of the strategy, the Ministry plans to allocate funds for the participation of local brands and enterprises in international exhibitions. At the same time, scholarships will be allocated for the study of future industry specialists in the leading institutions of the world. It also provides for interaction with international institutions, opening branches of leading educational centers in Armenia.
The Ministry noted that over 8.4 thousand workers are currently involved in the textile industry of Armenia. By 2026, this figure will drop to 8.1 thousand people. However, at the same time, productivity will increase, the average salary will reach almost 160 thousand drams (1.5-fold increase), and export volumes will amount to $536.9 million.
According to the RA Statistical Committee, the volume of production of the textile industry in Armenia in 2021 increased 2.1-fold, amounting to 1.9 billion drams (over $3.7 million).
