ArmInfo. According to Armenian Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan, it is illogical that Yerevan is the cheapest city in Europe in terms of parking fees.
"We very often talk about the fact that Yerevan should increase its income. And in this context, it is considered and discussed that in parallel with the development of the transport system, it is also necessary to increase the profit in terms of income received from the parking line, since today Yerevan is the city with the lowest parking fees, and it is illogical, taking into account the expenses that we envisage in this sector," Kerobyan said on April 28 at a government meeting, after Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the start of construction of the Ajapnyak metro station. The first two phases of construction will be financed from funds reimbursed to the city budget by Parking City Service as part of a criminal case.
The last attempt to raise parking prices was made in July 2017. At the beginning of July, on its Facebook page, Parking City Service announced that from August 1, 2017, when sending an SMS with a car number to the short number 1045, an amount of 149 AMD will be deducted from the balance for one hour of parking (of which 100 AMD for parking, and the rest as commission and VAT) instead of the current 100 AMD per hour. Then the Yerevan Municipality stated that "a special format has been created which allows to keep the form of payment for parking via SMS messages and, make the payment without commissions and VAT from August 1, this year, setting a preferential tariff of 2 AMD exclusively for SMS services" .
The parking place in Yerevan is marked with red lines. You can park your car for free for five minutes. Cost: up to 1 hour - 100 AMD, per day - 500 AMD, a week will cost 1000 AMD, a month - 2000 AMD, for a year - 12000 AMD.
