Passenger traffic in Armenia reached 40% growth in Q1

ArmInfo.The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in Q1 2022 accelerated the y-o-y growth to 14.7% from 9.1% a year earlier, amounting to 3,662.2 thousand tons.   Of this volume, 62.3% or 2,281.7 thousand tons is accounted for by  road transport, the annual growth rate of which accelerated from  17.5% to 21.9%. This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical  Committee.

According to statistics, rail freight transportation for the  reporting period decreased by 3.6% - to 651.8 thousand tons, while  air freight increased by 15.6% - to 3.7 thousand tons. 725,000 tons  of natural gas were delivered through the main pipeline, which is  12.8% more than a year ago.

Passenger traffic for the reporting period reached a 40% growth from  a 40.6% decline a year earlier, amounting to 31,654.5 thousand  people. Automobile transportation of passengers increased by 44.2% -  up to 25,207.4 thousand people, air - 2.1-fold up to 570.7 thousand  people, railway - by 25.1% up to 97.2 thousand people, transportation  of passengers by electric transport - by 21% - up to 5,779.2 thousand  people.  As a result, cargo turnover increased in Q1 2022 by 12.8%  per annum - up to 1,548.5 million tons-km, and passenger traffic  increased by 74.3% per annum - up to 524.4 million passenger-km.
