ArmInfo. According to the goals set, the "Dry Port" being established in Gyumri will provide 3% of Armenia's GDP. Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan announced this during the meeting with the heads of the regional and city authorities of the Shirak region. He said that the industrial park is planned to be built on an area of 400 hectares, which will border the airport, the railway, as well as the North-South highway.
At the same time, he expressed hope that with the creation of the industrial park, large industrial enterprises will be concentrated in Gyumri, which will be ready to make investments. The latter, according to the minister, will be able to launch their production processes on ready-made sites without investing in construction. In addition, the park provides for the availability of storage facilities, which will create the opportunity for the movement of goods in the desired directions by air and rail. "We see an opportunity to return the status of an industrial city to Gyumri," he stressed.
Kerobyan said that for the successful implementation of this project, a specialist from England, a representative of the Armenian Diaspora, who has extensive experience in the successful implementation of similar initiatives in a number of other countries, including Egypt, Oman, Ethiopia, etc., was invited to Armenia.
It should be reminded that Vahan Kerobyan announced the construction project of the "Dry Port" in Gyumri in April last year. It was also reported that a working meeting was held at the Russian Trade Mission to discuss the possibilities of attracting Russian enterprises to the industrial park being designed in Gyumri.
