
ArmInfo. Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan believes the current economic situation in the county optimistic.
At a discussion of the 2021 budget report by a join meeting of commissions on Tuesday, Mr Pashinyan stated that the tax revenues totaled AMD 715bln last January-May and expressed confidence that AMD 45bln more will be paid to the state budget as tax revenues - a growth of AMD 141bln as compared with the corresponding period last year. This May alone, the tax revenues reached AMD 128.2bln, exceeding the budgeted revenues by 9.1% or AMD 119.1bln.
"I consider the current economic situation optimistic, and the figures are evidence thereof. Although it may seem strange for a number of objective reasons, Armenia's economy is resilient," Mr Pashinyan said.
Real economic growth was 8.6% in the first quarter of 2022, with 9.4% growth in economic activity this January-April. More tourists are arriving in Armenia as well.
According to the 2022 draft budget, Armenia's budget revenues are to total AMD 1,947.8bln (24.7% of the GDP) or AMD 289bln (17.5%) more than last year. On-budget expenditures are to total AMD 2,184bln or 27.7% of the GDP - AMD 184bln more than the budgeted expenditures for this year and AMD 334bln more than last year). The budget deficit is estimated at AMD 236.2bln - AMD 6,736.3mln less than last year. 95% of the budget revenues will be ensured due to taxes and duties. The tax revenues are to total AMD 1,844bln against the actually recorded AMD 1,586.9bln or 22.7% of the GDP last year (0.3 percentage point more than in 2020).
