ArmInfo.Armenia's government has allocated an additional AMD 400mln under the 2020-2023 housing programmes for families with children.
At a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Armenia's Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mktchyan said that the programme has three components: lump sum payments for mortgage loans or home purchase loans (for families wishing to purchase private houses in Armenia's regions); financial aid to beneficiaries; lump- sum maternity benefits to families effecting mortgage payments.
In case of the first and second child, families will receive benefits equal to 10% of the mortgage loan balance (10% in rural areas and 5% in Yerevan), but within AMD 500,000. In case of the third and fourth child, the sum will reach AMD 2mln.
"If a programme beneficiary is under 30, the government will pay up to AMD 4mln to the family for the third child," Mr Mkrtchyan said.
He reported that 3,250 families have been involved in the programme since it was launched. The government has allocated a total of AMD 2.2bln under the programme.
"We expect 2,500 families to become programme beneficiaries this year - as many as in 2020 and in 2021 together. About 900 families have been involved in the programme this year. We have granted 150 applications for funds, and they will immediately be paid in the draft is approved," the minister said.
