ArmInfo. From January 15, 2023, Armenia will renew the restrictions on the import of cement and clinker.
The government set licensing requirements for this type of activity on January 13, 2022.
"The steps created favorable conditions for local producers to compete with imported cement. In January 2022 alone, cement output totaled 68.7 thousand tons - twice as much a last January," reads the government-issued document.
Some economic changes in 2018 reduced the price of cement imported from Iran, which caused a serious increase in imports from Iran. To protect Armenian producers, Armenia's government imposed a state duty on thee import of cement and clinker from Iran.
