Higher-rate growth in Armenia trade 

ArmInfo.In January-April 2022, the turnover of Armenia`s trade sector totaled AMD 1,100bln (over $2.2bln) - 7.8% year-on-year growth against 4.8% last year.  

According to the RA Statistical Committee, this April, Armenia's  trade turnover totaled AMD 305.4bln ($648.6mln) - 1.7% growth. 

  The cause is an upward trend in the trade in cars, whole and retail  sales in general.   

This January-April, wholesale trade totaled AMD 584.2bln ($1.2bln) -  a 10.1% year-on-year growth against a 9.1% growth in the  corresponding period of last year. The retail trade turnover totaled  AMD 458.8bln ($950.8mln) - a 1.5% growth against 0.8% growth last  year. 

The trade in cars totaled AMD 43.6bln ($90.4mln) - a 67.6% growth  against a 13% decline. 

In the retail trade structure, shops (including supermarkets)  recorded the largest turnover - AMD 362bln or 78.9% (with a  year-on-year growth of 3.5%), with other sales outlets recording a  turnover of AMD 65.1bln or 14.2% (a year-on-year decline 1.5%).  Consumer markets recorded a turnover AMD 20.3bln (a year-on- year  decline of 13.3%), Stalls and stands, AMD 7.3bln or 1.6% (a  year-on-year decline of 9.7%), and agricultural markets, AMD 4.1mln  or 0.9% (a year-on-year decline 9.4%). 

Wholesale trade dominates Armenia`s trade turnover (53.8%), followed  by retail trade (42.2%) and car trade (4%). 

The average AMD/USD exchange rate was AMD 482.55/$1 this  January-April, and 470.99/$1 in April 2022
