ArmInfo.The Eurasian Development Bank is evaluating the project for the construction of logistics complexes throughout the EAEU, taking into account the achievement of the goal of food security. This was stated by Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) Nikolay Podguzov at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
According to the Bank's press service, Podguzov recalled that the Bank's strategy involves investing $11 billion over the next five years. The strategy has only become more relevant, since the topic of transport corridors, the Eurasian transport framework is an impetus for the development of the region: up to 8 million tons of cargo can be additionally launched along these routes, and this is a very serious economic development.
The Chairman of the Managemen Board of the EDB also added that among the priorities of the Bank are also water and energy, which give impetus to the development of Central Asia, a region that is growing at the fastest pace. Over the past 20 years, Central Asia's GDP has quadrupled in aggregate. For comparison, emerging markets tripled during this period, Russia's GDP doubled. And it is important for us to support emerging economies. Podguzov specified that over the 16 years of operation, the EDB has invested $12 billion in projects.
This amount can be multiplied by 3 or 4, taking into account the funds of partners. These are hundreds of infrastructure projects. And the strategy will be continued, resources will be found taking into account new approaches.
Earlier it was reported that the EDB, together with the governments of the EAEU countries, is implementing a project to combine physical and digital infrastructure along the North-South route in order to use the highway as an alternative to the Suez Canal.
