ArmInfo. The revaluation of the national currency significantly slows down the export of domestic goods.
This was announced at a meeting of the Presidium of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia (UMBA). According to the press service of the UMBA, it was emphasized at the meeting that the revaluation of the dram has dealt a significant blow to information technology companies, most of whose turnover is carried out in foreign currency. Significant damage is also caused to users of external transfers. In order to analyze the current situation, in-depth discussion of problems and develop adequate steps, it was decided to hold a round table with the participation of representatives of the financial and banking sectors, experts and entrepreneurs for an open discussion.
It was also noted at the meeting that a serious obstacle to the export of Armenian products is the problem of cargo transportation, which is caused both by the workload of the Upper Lars checkpoint and by problems caused by the organization of sea transportation. Another problem is the insufficient number of trucks in the country. As a result, both the process of exporting agricultural products and the fulfillment of obligations undertaken to foreign partners and ensuring deliveries on time became more complicated. It was proposed to organize consultations using the platform and professional capabilities of the UMBA to find ways to overcome the problem.
"It is necessary to intensify interaction in all possible areas, both with state bodies and with economic and public circles, in order to identify factors that contribute to the stabilization and promotion of the economy, and to develop solutions," UMBA President Arsen Ghazaryan said.
The meeting discussed and approved a range of issues that the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia will present to newly appointed Member (Minister) of the Board for Economic and Financial Policy of the EEC Bakytzhan Sagintaev during the upcoming working meeting.
