Gyumri Breeding Station reports three-fold growth in barley output 

ArmInfo.The gross barley output of the Gyumri Breeding Station has gown three-fold, Armenia's Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan wrote on his Facebook page  following his trip to Gyumri. 

Referring to Director of the plant-breeding station David  Martirosyan, he reported that the average yield is 30.3 centners per  ha and 26 centners per ha in production and scientific sections  respectively. 

About 10% of the areas were organically fertilized. 

In the first half of 2022, Armenia's agricultural sector recorded a  5.5% decline against a 6.8% growth in the first half of last year. 

According to the RA Ministry of Agriculture, the Gyumri  Plant-Breeding Center CJSC was established through reorganization of  the Research Institute of Farming and the Gyumri Plant- Breeding  Station. 

The station is conducting research in crop breeding, perennial herbs  and agricultural plants in the Shirak valley, developing growing and  fertilization technologies, producing, storing and selling seeds of  various plants.
