ArmInfo.Around 17,000 pensioners and people receiving benefits are participating in a government-sponsored 10% cashback programme for purchases by means of cashless settlements this July. A total of AMD 44mln will be transferred to their bank cards within a couple of days, Armenia's Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan said.
About 17,000 of the 173,000 people served by the banks involved in the programme effected noncash transactions worth a total of AMD 524mln. So each of the participants will receive AMD 2,600 (about $6.5).
Premier Nikol Pashinyan pointed out that only10% of the beneficiaries will make use of cashbacks. He called for more active cooperation with banks for more people to benefit from the programme and more banks to be involved.
