ArmInfo.Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan and Asian Development Bank (ADB) Armenia Office Director Paolo Spantigati discussed the implementation of road construction projects within the framework of the investment program for sustainable urban development. Regional specialists of the Bank, also attended the meeting, the press service of the Yerevan Municipality reports.
Referring to the joint plans for the development of urban infrastructure, the mayor stressed their importance and ensuring their continuity. The parties also discussed projects for the construction of new roads, in particular, the possible attraction of credit funds for the construction of a new road connecting Isakov Avenue with Arshakunyats Street.
Expressing satisfaction with the results of the projects, the ADB Armenia Office Director noted that the Mayor's Office is one of the reliable partners of the Bank, expressing readiness to support the community in the implementation of large-scale projects that are important not only for the capital.
It should be noted that in February 2017, the Armenian parliament ratified a loan agreement signed on October 13, 2015 with the Asian Development Bank in the amount of $112.97 million for the construction of bypass roads in Yerevan, which will relieve the center of the capital. The highways under construction will make it possible to unload the central streets of the capital, as well as connect the main roads with the North-South corridor under construction. Over 15 years of cooperation, the volume of investments of the Asian Development Bank in Armenia amounted to 1.6 billion dollars.
