ArmInfo. In H1 2022, Armenia significantly increased the export of polished diamonds (2.1-fold) up to 715.2 thousand carats, while their customs value increased 2.8-fold to $134.1 million. This is evidenced by the data of the RA Customs Service.
According to the source, diamonds are exported from Armenia mainly to the UAE (83%), Russia (15.7%), scanty volumes to Hong Kong (0.5%), Belgium (0.4%), USA (0.1%), as well as to Belarus, Georgia, Israel, Germany, China, Thailand.
According to customs data, the volume of imported rough diamonds also increased significantly - by 87%, amounting to 757.8 thousand carats. At the same time, the customs value of imported rough diamonds increased much more significantly, increasing 2.7-fold in y-o-y terms - up to $149.1 million.
Rough diamonds were mainly imported to Armenia from India (52.1%), Russia (21%), Hong Kong (13.6%), much less from the UAE (5.2%), Belarus (2.9%), Belgium (1.7%), South Africa (1.6%), Israel (0.6%), and very meager volumes were supplied from Thailand, the Czech Republic, Germany, Canada.
